Position Statement

At Regence, we encourage our members to play an active role in their health care. We believe that the better informed you are, the more successful your treatment will be. It just makes good sense to talk openly with your doctor about potential treatment alternatives, the risks and benefits of each alternative, and how well they are expected to work.

To help you with this discussion, Regence doctors, nurses and pharmacists carefully identify the most reliable scientific evidence for treatments you may have heard about in the news or from other people. We compare the evidence to other treatments for that condition and summarize the information for you. We call these treatment (“Tx”) summaries, ConsumerTxSM. You can take these summaries with you to your doctor appointments.

Below you’ll find ConsumerTxSM information for some treatment alternatives for conditions such as depression, back pain, and obesity. More summaries will be added each month, so be sure to check back here periodically for new information.
